Project Overview

Yu Jie is a dining space conceived around the concept of "food within setting"—where the act of eating is elevated into a dialogue with objects, light, and nature. The interior avoids overt decoration, instead relying on the silent gravity of materials to compose a narrative. It offers guests a fully immersive experience that engages sight, touch, and taste in equal measure.

Deep wood tone dominates the material palette. LANSEN COLOR Charles Teak panels—with their dark teak brown hue and fine, ring-like grain suggesting aged timber—form both the substantial base of the open chef's bar and the concealed texture behind perforated feature walls. Warm light filters through geometric voids, casting dappled shadows across the grain. The warmth and softness of wood converse with cooler metal fixtures and solid stone, dissolving the transactional feel of a commercial interior.

LANSEN COLOR Charles Teak panels clad the open kitchen bar front and selected wall surfaces (including the backing of lattice-screen feature walls). The dark grain frames and heightens the vivid colors of plated dishes, establishing a warm, grounded tone at the most frequently viewed sightlines. The finish offers color consistency and stain-resistant properties suited to the interface between guest area and semi-open prep zone, allowing the material to act as a quiet yet defining presence—the "silent protagonist" of the space.

Material Application

This project uses the LANSEN COLOR decorative panel system in Charles Teak pattern. Characterized by deep brown teak wood grain that closely replicates the medullary ray and ring texture of natural aged teak, it is installed on the open bar counter façade and feature wall surfaces. Under warm accent lighting the dark timber reads as unpretentious yet refined, softening adjacent metal and stone elements. The panel offers color-stable performance and a cleanable, mar-resistant surface appropriate to food-adjacent zones, delivering a warm, durable, low-maintenance wood interior finish for boutique hospitality use.
