Rong Yu is a Henan cuisine restaurant whose interior draws on the depth of Central Plains culture. Rather than deploying literal regional motifs, the design relies on material authenticity—quiet, grounded, and in dialogue with nature—to translate place-based identity into spatial experience. The goal is a dining venue where guests feel visually and emotionally settled.
The material narrative pairs LANSEN COLOR "Ji Ya Washed Oak"—with its layered, timeworn oak grain and faux-washed patina in a grey-brown palette—against dark grey stone tile floors and black metal framed doors/pendants. The wood's warm, slightly coarse tactility softens the clinical coolness of stone and the rigidity of metal; the washed texture implies age and human touch without reading artificial. This creates a "calm, modern, subtly rugged" character throughout.
LANSEN COLOR Washed Oak panels clad perimeter walls and private room feature walls. The finish acts as both background and focal-point-capable surface, with batch-consistent coloration and a cleanable, mar-resistant face suited to hospitality use. It realizes the design's intent of materializing regional-cultural warmth through authentic wood-language—supporting rather than competing with the dining experience.
This project uses the LANSEN COLOR decorative surfacing system in Ji Ya Washed Oak pattern. Characterized by a grey-toned, distressed oak grain that simulates wire-brushed, whitewashed timber, it is installed across restaurant walls and private dining room interiors. The panel retains the visual depth of natural oak while offering commercial-grade color stability and stain resistance. The washed-oak finish dialogues with dark stone (warm vs. cool texture) and black metal (organic vs. rigid), its timeworn patina injecting humanistic warmth. Together these elements deliver a serene, culturally resonant, low-maintenance wood interior finish for upscale regional cuisine dining.
