Project Overview

Xiaoxiang Fu Shangdi Branch is a high-end Hunan dining venue whose interior takes Yuelu Academy—China's millennial center of classical learning—as its conceptual origin. The design orchestrates a "contract vs. expand, ancient vs. modern" dialectic: spatial thickness drawn from Xiang culture's narrative weight, balanced by the composure and functional clarity expected of a modern restaurant, so that guests feel they have stepped into a temporally layered environment.

The material narrative pairs LANSEN COLOR oak wood-grain panels—mellow in hue, with clear, naturally varied grain suggesting the "deep soil of Xiang region"—across perimeter walls of multiple zones, replacing the alienating chill of stone with humanizing warmth. Complementarily, fabric-texture (Clay/Cloth grain) panels, with fine ordered micro-surface, line the backdrop of large-format calligraphic and painted artworks and selected focal points, brightening the overall scheme and adding refined artistic accent. "Wood embraces; cloth restrains"—two distinct tactile languages unified in purpose.

LANSEN COLOR decorative panels are installed on dining zone walls and art display backing surfaces. Oak grain flows from the entry vestibule into dining halls, forming a continuous warm wooden envelope. Fabric texture is precisely placed behind cultural signage and artwork to heighten their presence. The pairing honors traditional architectural resonance while meeting modern hospitality's durability and cleanability requirements—a signature LANSEN COLOR "Wood + Fabric" material-scenography solution for culturally themed dining interiors.

Material Application

This project uses the LANSEN COLOR decorative surfacing system in two finishes: Oak Wood Grain and Fabric (Cloth) Texture. The Oak pattern, in warm mellow brown with naturally varied grain, is applied extensively to walls to set a composed, inclusive spatial基调 and warm tactile impression. The Fabric-texture finish, with its fine woven-surface micro-relief, is installed as art-backing substrate and at visual focal zones to offset wood's visual weight and make displayed content (calligraphy, paintings, red-accent branding) read more vividly. "Wood carries narrative; cloth modulates light"—together they deliver a culturally rooted yet functionally robust interior finish for premium regional cuisine hospitality use.
