The project is a large-scale R&D and administrative office for CRRC, covering approximately 70,000 sqm in Zhuzhou. The design responds to the rail transit industry’s engineering character—precision, order, durability—while introducing natural material warmth to avoid the alienation typical of pure industrial interiors.
The palette anchors on light-brown timber tones and cool grey metal. Continuous wood-grain cladding wraps from ceiling to wall, with vertical grain flowing along corridors and seamlessly joining door leaves. Selected zones shift to a light-grey metallic finish with micro-granular texture, contrasting the dark marble floor. Linear lighting and metal trims reinforce geometric discipline, placing “organic growth” and “artificial order” in controlled coexistence.
Carbon fiber panels serve as the unified substrate: M1180-1 wood grain finishes clad office walls, doors and corridor systems, softening structural edges; AL-J9001-1 grey metal laminate forms monolithic ceiling skins and feature walls, acting as a light medium and temperature counterpoint. One substrate across wall panels, doors and millwork ensures color consistency and clean joints at scale, while meeting environmental, durable and prefabrication requirements for corporate workplaces.
The specification centers on LANSEN carbon fiber panels with two primary finishes. Ebony Wax Wood M1180-1 delivers a light-brown, vertically oriented wood grain for walls, doors and corridor cladding—offering timber aesthetics with dimensional stability and no warping risk. AL-J9001-1 grey metal finish, with subtle particulate texture and pearlescent low-light reflection, applies to ceiling planes and accent walls, neutralizing the coolness of the base building and balancing the warm cloud-marble flooring.
Using one substrate across wall panels, door leaves and commercial millwork allows 70,000 sqm of interior to read as a single material system. Carbon fiber substrate brings low formaldehyde emission, deformation resistance and modular processability, supporting standardized construction, reduced on-site cutting and easier future refurbishment—without relying on decorative excess to express “technology”.
