OpenO₂ Photosynthesis is a casual dining space whose brand concept—"photosynthesis: a breathable urban oasis"—privileges material authenticity over formal gymnastics. Living greenery (hanging vines, suspended planters) is paired with the quiet gravity of timber so that the everyday act of eating becomes a conscious pause for well-being—a brief "stepping out" from the city's rush.
The material narrative centers on LANSEN COLOR Canyon Walnut ("Dangu Hu Tao"), which occupies the balanced middle ground between pale new timber and oppressively dark aged wood. Its deeper grain against a slightly lighter substrate creates a gentle, natural contrast. The finish clads perimeter walls, banquette cabinetry, and architectural reveals—unfolding like "the earth's whispered sedimentation"—while cascading plants provide kinetic life. Wood's stillness "carries" vegetation's movement, jointly embodying the brand's photosynthetic ethos.
LANSEN COLOR Canyon Walnut panels are installed on feature walls, servery/display cabinetry, and structural turns throughout the venue. The finish exerts a silent gravitational pull that anchors the space's mood, offering diners a sensed feeling of being gently held and grounded. The product delivers color-consistent performance with a mar- and stain-resistant surface suited to daily café traffic, allowing material warmth to elevate every act—sitting, touching, looking, tasting—into a more memorable, ritualized experience within a coherent sensory field.
This project uses the LANSEN COLOR decorative surfacing system in Canyon Walnut (Dangu Hu Tao) pattern. Characterized by a mellow warm-brown walnut hue with naturally varied light-and-dark grain, it is applied to wall surfaces, display/storage cabinetry, and architectural reveals. The walnut finish is unassertive yet present—its warm, grounded timber tone sets off the vitality of planted greenery and softens the clinical edge of a commercial shell. The panel offers batch-consistent coloration and easy-clean durability appropriate for light-food service environments, delivering a warm, biophilic, low-maintenance wood interior finish for lifestyle-oriented casual dining.
